As discussed (mostly by me granted) at the last meeting we should look around at other possible venues for the next meeting.
The things that would be great to have as a venue for a DubJUG meeting are:
- Quiet Venue - no loud music if any.
- Plenty of seating - This is usually not a problem on a Tuesday night anyway but it means it can't be a very busy place.
- Not too formal - Many of us work in jeans & t-shirts and don't want to feel we have to dress up to go to a DubJUG meeting!
- Wireless Internet Access - Free Wireless Internet Access might be pushing it but this would be nice.
I took a few suggestions last time and went looking for a few places today. I didn't find the bar on Dame Street with the basement with the big table??? Despite checking a few places out. So if you suggested that place I'd love to hear back from you again. I did find the upstairs bar in the Central Hotel called the Library Bar. It has nearly everything we want including Internet access. The only thing is there may not be enough seats on days when we have a large meeting.
So please keep suggestions coming in. Even if you are not intending being able to make the next meeting, if you have a good idea that is all that matters.
For now, unless more come in, I'd suggest we go with the Library Bar in the Central Hotel. I will of course put the final venue on the invite which I expect to send out on the 1st Tuesday of August, 1 week before the event. So you have plenty of time to suggest other places.
