August DubJUG Meeting - Update

Hi all,

Just a quick run-down on the August DubJUG meetup. It was smaller than usual (which was great because the venue wasn't going to seat as many as had turned up for the previous event) but the discussion was very entertaining nonetheless! The debate on the pros and cons of the Spring Framework (feel free to put you own points in via this blog if you wish) was the best bit of the night from a Java point of view. As usual there was also the usual plethora of non-Java related subjects such as the Tour de France and the Hell's Angels to name but a few.

IJTC 2008 Call for Papers

We're running the Java conference again this year and the 2008 call for papers is out, but what will IJTC 2008 be about? After all Java is such a huge and diverse platform these days.

Like last year, we'll bring you some of the best international speakers covering some of the most important topics of the moment. We will also bring you some local content from up and coming companies and from local developers.

Location, location, location

As discussed (mostly by me granted) at the last meeting we should look around at other possible venues for the next meeting.

July DubJUG Meeting

Just to give a quick run-down on how the meeting went yesterday. It was very well attended for a summer meeting. We had a long table in Thomas Reads and several conversations on the go at all times. Topics ranged from how to hide a program in a JPEG, to Ryanair vs Aer Lingus and which had the better website.

Developer Opportunities through Cpl

My name is Stephen Buswell and I work in the telecoms team for Cpl recruitment. I’m currently looking for Java developers with a minimum of two years experience.
